Minnesota Fishing Report

IMG951514August is almost over and school has started for some students. Don’t let this stop you from heading out fishing this weekend! Here in Otter Tail Lakes Country the fishing has been great. If you haven’t been having much luck or you are just looking for some guidance, you have come to the right place. Walleye during the day have been found in waters 10 to 20 feet deep with anglers using jigs with minnows and bottom bouncers with night crawlers. At night they move to shallower depths of 5 to 7 feet and anglers are finding luck using shad rap to hook them. If you’re on the hunt for some panfish (Sunfish or Crappies) have your flu flu’s tipped with wax worms, night crawler, or crappie minnow’s and fish in depths of 8 to 10 feet along the weed lines or 15 feet in the weeds. Looking for Bass, get your spinner baits and tube jigs ready and fish in weed beds that are 5 to 8 feet deep. When you find yourself in waters of 12 to 20 feet of depth and it’s a weed line then you are in the perfect place to fish for some Northern Pike, grab your minnows and jigs and get fishing. Like Muskie fishing during the day? Find waters that are 15 to 20 feet in depth and line your rod with big spinner baits. Have a wonderful week fishing and we hope to see you in Otter Tail Lakes Country for some great late summer fun!
