Winter Trails Report

Experience Otter Tail Country Trail Association’s 280 miles of well maintained and signed trails, with numerous connections to other area trail systems. Groomers are working to shape up the trails for the weekend following the additional 4-6 inches of snow. Expect the entire system, from the north at Cormorant Pub, Rothsay, Elizabeth, Pelican Rapids and Vergas, down through Underwood, Battle Lake, Clitheral, Vining, Ashby and back to Fergus Falls to be fully groomed by the weekend. The base of these trails measures 6-8 inches. At Maplewood State Park, more than 2 feet of snow covers the ground. All ski and snowmobile trails are open, but are in need of grooming due to considerable drifting. Until grooming is complete, conditions for skiing are poor, and fair for snowmobiling. Just to the south, there are 20 kilometers of groomed cross country ski trails at Spidahl Ski Gaard, with trails running through hilly oak and maple woods. These trails are in great spring skiing condition. Ski rental, a snack bar, trail maps and restrooms are available at the ski shop.
