Minnesota Fishing Report

rap-walleyeNow that the cold front and high winds have passed, fish are feeding more aggressively. Look for walleyes to be holding off the deep weed edges, in depths of 16-26 feet of water. The evening bite has been best with jigging presentations turning the most fish. Crappies have been suspended over the deeper basin areas with a soft bottom. Sunfish are holding mostly inside and outside the green weed edges in 7-13 feet of water. Anglers having the most success are using small jigs and waxworms. Most area lakes have a solid two feet of good ice and minimal snow cover, so travel on the lakes has been easy. Many lakes have formed pressure ridges which anglers should avoid unless they have carefully checked the ice conditions.
