The Winter Wonderland Snowmobile Trails running through the Detroit Lakes vicinity are holding up well, however, some bare spots are developing. Some trails have been regroomed for the weekend, and conditions are described as good. Over 250 miles of trails in the Detroit Lakes area offer views of rolling prairie to secluded woodlands with abundant wildlife. Cross country skiers continue to enjoy great spring skiing conditions on many trails just to the north. These trails will not be regroomed prior to the weekend. Roughly 15 inches of snow covers on the ground.
At Maplewood State Park, roughly 2 feet of snow still covers the ground. The snowmobile trails remain in very good shape, with an 8 inch base. These trails may be regroomed prior to the weekend. Conditions for skiing have been down-graded to fair. If rain falls this Saturday, conditions may deteriorate rapidly. Nearby Glendalough State Park has closed their ski trails due to heavy drifting which has made access to the trails and the trail center difficult. Local snow depth is 19 inches.
